Tips& Tricks Finding the Dress Have a sense of your wedding style and theme in mind when you go dress shopping. For example, if you're planning a rustic, outdoor, summer wedding, consider skipping the heavy satin gown and opting for something lighter, cooler and more suited to the atmosphere. Choose a dress that you love today. Picture yourself walking down the aisle, right now, and ask yourself if you feel beautiful, comfortable, and confident. We all want to be extra-fit for our wedding day, but alterations can always make a dress tinier. Putting the added stress of having to fit into a slightly too-small dress at the top of your wedding planning list is not necessarily the best way to get the extra-restful beauty sleep you need! Do just a little bit of homework. Ask around with married friends for bridal shop recommendations, as well as researching designers you like and their price points. Get a sense of which fabrics and shapes you like. (Hint: we've got all kinds of fashion inspiration in these galleries.) Keep an open mind. You may be convinced that silk taffeta is your thing and that you could never wear anything but a fit and flare gown – and odds are you're right. This is your body, your personal style and your wedding day after all! But if you never try on that clinging lace dress or that full, tulle-skirted ball gown, well, you'll never know what you might have fallen in love with. Trust your consultant's suggestions. Plus, really, can one try on too many pretty dresses?
